This is a very interesting read. I found it very captivating and well written, its mysterious and fast paced. I would not recommend this book to younger readers. There are some scene that some people may find a little disturbing and violent, and it’s dotted with profanity in some places.

On a scale of 1-10: 8.5

like this? try: Hollow City – by Ransom Riggs. A Series of Unfortunate Events – by Lemony Snicket.

Sebastian the werewolf’s review:

Jacob travels to an island to try and solve the mystery of his grandfather’s stories.

Role models:  I wouldn’t sugest doing everything like these characters, but there are a lot of brave, honest, selfless people.

Learning:  Some things about WWII and Wales.

Violence:  Some disturbing scene like sheep getting killed and a man’s body being pulled out of the ocean (not too much gory detail). also talk of WWII and guns being used at people. reference to Jeffrey Dahmer.

Language:  Lots of words including “s–t,” “hell,” “bugger,” “g—amn,” “a–hole,” “da-n,” “ass,” “jac–ss,” “ba–ard,” and probobly a few others I can’t remember.

Sex:  A couple of make out scenes and someone gets accused of adultery.

Drugs:  Some people drink too much, one teenager smokes.
